Event will be held June 10-12

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (Friday, May 20, 2016) The Atlantic City Convention Center welcomes AnimeNEXT into its facilities for the first time this June. This year will be the fifteenth annual event, bringing in 15,000 attendees from all over the world to Atlantic City.

AnimeNEXT is the largest independently organized Japanese anime convention in the tri-state area. This three-day event celebrates Japanese and East Asian culture and entertainment, with a number of guests from music, fashion, the arts and entertainment industries. Activities include concerts, panels, visual artists, workshops, cosplay contests, a game room featuring arcade machines fresh from Japan, a vendor’s room and meet and greet opportunities. Attendees are encouraged to dress in costumes of their favorite characters and celebrities from pop culture, which is what people in the community refer to as cosplay (or “costume play”).

Attendees can expect to enjoy free shuttle service to travel easily between the convention center, convention hotels, the Boardwalk and parking lots.

Local Atlantic City businesses are expected to greatly benefit from AnimeNEXT at the convention center over three days. The estimated economic impact is expected to reach more than $3 million. In addition, 2,800 hotel rooms have been contracted by convention center visitors.

“We’re excited about our upcoming show in Atlantic City and all the opportunities our move has already presented us. The new space and location is providing us a chance to expand our programming, and we’re looking forward to giving all our attendees--new and returning--an amazing show this year,” said Eric Torgersen, Chairman for AnimeNEXT 2016.

AnimeNEXT 2016 will take place June 10-12 at the Atlantic City Convention Center. Operating hours will depend on the day, with registration opening at 9:00am on Friday and the final event ending at 4:00pm on Sunday. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Friday, June 10 at 12:00 p.m. at the Atlantic City Convention Center to help kick-off the convention weekend.

Pre-register for the event before May 24 for a reduced rate. Group discount rates are also available. Single day tickets will be available for purchase at the door. For more event information and tickets, visit: http://www.animenext.org/.
