MPI’s WEC will be Held June 11-14, 2016
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (Tuesday, March 29, 2016) Meet AC will sponsor three hospitality students from Stockton University to attend Meeting Professionals International (MPI) 2016 World Education Congress (WEC). In addition, the students will receive a one year membership to MPI and participate in the upcoming IMEX-MPI-MCI Future Leaders Forum held just prior to WEC 2016.
Held annually, WEC is MPI’s signature event through which it delivers premier education, business and networking opportunities, attracting more than 2,000 attendees including corporate, third party, and association planners, suppliers, students, industry faculty and more. The conference will be held June 11-14, 2016, in Atlantic City at the Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center. The Future Leaders Forum program is designed for students who are interested in making a career in the meeting and event industry. More than 7,000 students have passed through the program since its launch in 2003, attending one of over 110 forums worldwide.
“Meet AC thought this would be a wonderful opportunity to partner with our local University and give hospitality students a chance to experience MPI’s WEC. This is a fantastic time for the students to enhance their profile in the meeting and event industry,” said Jim Wood, president & CEO of Meet AC.
Three deserving Stockton University hospitality students were nominated and chosen by Stockton faculty who they believed would benefit from this amazing opportunity provided by Meet AC. Joseph Huntenburg from Toms River, NJ, Christine Nechay from Belvidere, NJ and Alexis Jacopec from Toms River, NJ, who are all tourism and hospitality majors at Stockton University, are thrilled for this opportunity.
"I hold a strong love for making someone feel special and important. There is no other industry like hospitality where every time you come into work you have the potential to make that person's experience and day exceptional. To me, a job is never work if it is something you love,” said Huntenburg.
“What brought me toward hospitality management and tourism as my major was being a compassionate person my entire life and being able to put a smile on everyone’s face. Being in MPI would immensely strengthen my learning knowledge and I would be able to teach others of my experience,” stated Christine Nechay.
“I chose tourism and hospitality as a major because for as long as I can remember I have wanted to pursue a career in event planning. I love the one on one customer service that event planning entails, plus making someone's day by providing them with their dream event will never get old. Being the president of Stockton Event Planners at Stockton University, I have always stressed to other students the importance of networking in this industry. Attending MPI’s WEC will provide an amazing atmosphere for networking with those already in the field,” added Alexis Jacopec.
